The Bretteau House

A family story

Since 1972, the same idea has guided us : good, honest, home-made food, passed down from one generation to the next.

Our beginnings

Three generations on the same day

The day we signed the papers to buy the shop from Sébastien's parents, our first son had just been born: he was sitting on his dad's lap during the signing. Three generations of Bretteaus together all at once, it's hard to imagine a more beautiful symbol for a family house.

Ever since, transmission, quality, home-made food and classics done right have been an integral part of the shop's DNA.

Two voices

The craftsman and the shopkeeper

We come from very different worlds : Sébastien from the craft of baking, Claire from marketing. In the end, we complement each other beautifully. Sébastien is an excellent technician, calm and a natural teacher, who prefers to avoid conflict. Claire is more impulsive, a shopkeeper who dives right in (sometimes without thinking !).

At work as at home, we have learned to turn our differences into a strength. We work on our complementarity a little every day, and over the long run, it pays off.

Pride & values

What drives us forward

Competitions

We never give up

A few prizes here and there, but above all the drive to push ourselves: we take part in competitions every year, a chance to keep improving. Claire is, in fact, a runner-up French champion from the first edition of the eloquence competition in baking and pastry.

Our values

Passing it on, above all

Transmission (in-house and external training, apprenticeships, educational visits to schools), home-made food, seasonal products and short supply chains : made in France first.
